Powerlifting coaching, strength programming and long-term athlete development with Colin Webb
Colin Webb is the owner and head coach of Panthers Powerlifting in Brisbane and one of Australia’s most experienced strength and powerlifting coaches.
Colin began coaching athletes in 2010, before opening Panthers Powerlifting in 2013. Since then, he has coached more than 500 lifters and handled athletes at over 50 competitions across powerlifting, strongman and strength sport.
His coaching is available both in person at Panthers Powerlifting in Coorparoo, Brisbane, and online for lifters across Australia.
Whether you are preparing for your first powerlifting competition, chasing a national-level total, returning from injury, improving your technique, or looking for structured online strength programming, Colin’s coaching is built around one goal: helping lifters get stronger for longer.

Coaching experience that started before online powerlifting became popular
Panthers Powerlifting has been part of the Australian strength scene since 2013.
Before powerlifting coaching became a large online industry, Panthers was already developing lifters, coaches, competitors and a genuine strength community in Brisbane. Over the years, several well-known Australian powerlifting coaches and strength professionals have spent time training, coaching, learning or developing through Panthers before building their own successful careers.
Colin’s background is not just in writing programs. His experience comes from more than a decade of coaching real lifters, in real gyms, through real competitions, with all the problems that come with long-term strength training: technique breakdowns, injury setbacks, confidence issues, missed lifts, weight cuts, peaking mistakes, recovery management and the challenge of keeping athletes progressing year after year.
That experience shapes the way he coaches today.
Coaching for beginners, competitors and advanced strength athletes
Colin works with a wide range of athletes, including:
- Beginner powerlifters
- First-time competitors
- Intermediate lifters who need better structure
- National-level powerlifters
- International-level athletes
- Strongman competitors
- General strength athletes
- Masters lifters
- Lifters returning from injury
- Athletes who want to build strength without burning out
Many of Colin’s lifters started as complete beginners. Some have stayed with him for more than 10 years.
His coaching suits lifters who are willing to put ego aside, learn how to move properly, train hard, and build strength in a way that can last.

A coaching system built around movement, longevity and performance
Colin’s approach is simple: the strongest lifters are usually the ones who can train consistently for the longest period of time.
That means the goal is not just to push hard for one block. The goal is to build a body that can keep handling productive training.
Colin’s coaching focuses on:
- Better movement efficiency
- Intelligent exercise selection
- Individualised programming
- Strength development
- Hypertrophy and muscle-building phases
- Technical skill in the squat, bench press and deadlift
- Injury management and training around pain
- Competition preparation
- Peaking and attempt selection
- Long-term progression instead of short-term ego lifting
The program is adjusted around the athlete, not the other way around.
Some lifters need more technical practice. Some need more muscle. Some need more exposure to heavy loads. Some need less stress and better recovery. Some need to rebuild confidence after injury. Some need to stop chasing numbers in training and learn how to perform better on the platform.
Good coaching is knowing the difference.
Safe, supported and strong
The goal at Panthers is not just to make people stronger. It is to help people enjoy the process of getting stronger.
Lifters should feel safe, supported and part of a community that wants to see them succeed.
Powerlifting can be an individual sport on competition day, but the training process is better with the right people around you. Panthers has built its reputation on that environment: lifters training hard, helping each other, learning together and supporting each other through the highs and lows of the sport.

Online powerlifting coaching
Colin provides online powerlifting coaching and strength programming for lifters across Australia.
Online coaching is suitable for lifters who want structure, accountability and expert programming without needing to train in Brisbane.
Online coaching can include:
- Individualised powerlifting programming
- Strength programming
- Technique feedback
- Exercise selection
- Competition preparation
- Training adjustments
- Load management
- Assistance work planning
- Meet-day strategy
- Long-term progression planning
This is not a generic template program. The goal is to build a plan around your body, your goals, your training history, your equipment, your injuries, your schedule and your competition timeline.
In-person powerlifting coaching in Brisbane
Colin also coaches in person at Panthers Powerlifting in Coorparoo, Brisbane.
Panthers is a specialised strength gym built for powerlifting, strongman and serious strength training.

Powerlifting competition preparation
Colin coaches lifters through full competition preparation, including:

- Managing fatigue
- Improving weak points
- Practising competition lifts
- Planning openers
- Selecting attempts
- Managing bodyweight
- Tapering into competition
- Meet-day handling
- Post-competition review
Competition prep is about more than getting strong in the gym. It is about arriving on the platform healthy, confident, technically sharp and ready to execute.
Strongman and general strength coaching
Colin also works with strongman athletes and general strength athletes who want to build serious strength without necessarily competing in powerlifting.
Strongman and strength coaching may include:
- Deadlift development
- Overhead pressing
- Squat strength
- Bench press strength
- Loaded carries
- Event preparation
- Hypertrophy work
- Injury-aware programming
- General performance training
The same principles apply: build the athlete, improve movement, manage stress, and keep training productive.

Meet hosting, refereeing and contribution to Australian powerlifting
Colin’s involvement in Australian powerlifting extends beyond coaching and competing.
He has served as APU Vice President, worked as a state-level referee, and hosted competitions across APL, APU, USAPL and strongman.
Panthers Powerlifting has hosted a large number of meets over the years and has played an important role in giving lifters a place to compete, learn and grow within the sport.
This matters because good coaching is not just programming. It is understanding the sport, the rules, the platform, the culture and the pathway from beginner to experienced competitor.

Colin’s coaching is best suited to lifters who want to train seriously but intelligently.
This is for you if:
